Primary 6/7 - Friday 14th March 2025
Primary 6/7 have had an excellent week in school, with lots of great learning activities in class. On Friday morning, we discussed our week in school and decided that we would like to share these thoughts about our learning:
Tickled Pink (things that we feel went well):
- We really enjoyed holding our first class debate this week. Our motion for the debate was, “This house believes that animal testing should continue” and there were fantastic speeches from both the for and against teams, demonstrating wonderful persuasive and argumentative skills
- We were pleased to finish our persuasive writing task about whether social media platforms should have an increased age limit and the boys and girls chose whether their piece of writing was for or against increasing age limits for social media use. You might be able to guess which side of the argument most of the children chose!
- We continue to enjoy our badminton sessions in PE as it is fun and we continue to build our skills with using the net and controlling our use of the racket and shuttles
- We enjoyed starting our new debate topic and beginning to research and write our team’s speeches about the fascinating debate topic of Cats vs Dogs
- We enjoyed our Maths lesson this week when we were set a challenge to see how far we could travel from Seafield using bus and train timetables. The theme was that were doing this to apply for a place on the “Race Across the World” television series
Green for Growth (things that we need to do to improve our learning):
- Some of us found our Maths with Mrs Baird about symmetry a little tricky but some of us also shared that we found it a little easy in places
- Some of us also felt that we would have liked to have had the chance to go out into the community for our outdoor learning session
Our school value award winners for this week are Archie and Kyle.
Our lead learners this week were James, Amelia, Annie and Matthew. They set these three targets for the class this week:
- try to take part in activities such as hobbies
- don’t talk back to anyone (unless it is part of debating!)
- be nice to the Pupil Support Workers
Our lead learners observed many children across the class meeting these targets all week, which was wonderful.
Well done for a fantastic week, P6/7. Have a lovely weekend.
