P1 Friday 14th March 2025
Tickled Pink:
- We had our P1 Family Breakfast this morning and loved having our grown ups in school! We enjoyed exploring different maths games and doing a Rich Task in the classroom. We had to come up with different ways to make numbers by adding two numbers together. We used a variety of resources to help us build and visualise the sums then write them on our whiteboards (Numicon, Double sided counters, loose parts, cubes and ten frames).
- We were learning about the life cycle of a butterfly this week for topic and made our own butterflies. We were focusing on making the butterfly wings symmetrical – which means it is the same on each side. We painted half of the butterfly then folded the paper and it printed onto the other half. They look amazing!
- We were also learning about the life cycle of a plant and what it needs to grow. We planted our own sunflower seeds which we will be responsible for over the next few weeks to help them grow.
Green for Growth:
- Some of the children found the Rich Task a bit tricky – they enjoyed working with a partner to do their work though!
- We have started looking at doubles in maths, doubles up to 5 were easy for us to do because we can use our fingers but we need to practise doubles 6-10 – we can keep singing the doubles rap!
Our Lead Learners next week are Rose and Joey!
Have a super weekend,
Mrs Wallace
