It’s been a super week here!

We held our first Pupil Council meeting of this session, and our pupils have chosen ‘sharing’ as the focus for their work. This links really well with our wider school focus on resilience, as well as our school value of kindness. The children already had some fantastic initial ideas, including creating sharing strategies for classes, delivering a class assembly about sharing, and surveying pupils to find out whether their work is making a difference. We’re looking forward to meeting again early in October to develop these ideas and plans further.

We’ve also had a lovely week exploring different cultures and languages across the school, ending with our dress-down day today. It has been wonderful to see children learning about, celebrating and showing an interest in the different cultures and languages that make our wider world such a rich and interesting place.

Just a couple of gentle reminders from school.

• At morning break, children have around 15 minutes for their snack and play, so we would ask that snacks are kept to a maximum of two items. Where possible, snacks that children can manage independently and that don’t require cutlery are helpful, allowing them plenty of time to eat and enjoy their break.
• Finally, a wee reminder that toys should stay at home please, unless children have specifically been asked to bring something into school. This helps us to avoid treasured items becoming lost or damaged and keeps everyone focused on learning and playing together.
