Seafield Snippets Friday 18th September 2026
It’s been another busy and enjoyable week in school, with lots of opportunities for our children to learn, get involved and try something new.
This week, our P1/2 and P2/3 pupils enjoyed a fun football taster session from Blackburn Football Club. The children had a great time getting active, practising their skills and enjoying the experience together. P3/4 will have their turn next week, and we’re sure they’ll enjoy it just as much! Many thanks to Blackburn United for gifting each Primary 1 pupil with a Blackburn United training top! We look forward to uploading a picture soon, with our pupils showing off their new tops!
Some of our classes have also enjoyed visits from our community partner, Sandra Boyd, who has been helping the children to learn more about Harvest. The pupils really enjoyed these sessions and have been given the choice to get involved further by helping to prepare materials for a future assembly. It has been lovely to see the children so engaged and enthusiastic about contributing.
Our Pupil Council groups have now been allocated, and all children who expressed an interest in taking part have been told which term they will be joining the Pupil Council. We are delighted that so many of our pupils are keen to have their voices heard, share their ideas and play an active part in our school community.
Next Friday, 25th September, we will be celebrating European Day of Languages and using this as an opportunity to explore languages, culture and the many different things that make each of us unique. Children are invited to dress down if they wish, wearing something that represents a little bit of who they are. This could be linked to their cultural heritage, faith or religious observance, interests, hobbies, favourite things, sports or clubs. Please note that professional football club tops should not be worn.
There are lots of ways children might choose to take part. They could wear something tartan to celebrate their Scottish heritage, a top linked to a local football or sports club they support or play for, pink because it is their favourite colour, or a sari or another item of traditional clothing that celebrates their family or cultural heritage. They might simply choose something connected to a hobby, interest or club that is important to them. There is no expectation to buy anything special and taking part is completely optional. It is simply a chance to celebrate the wonderful mix of cultures, languages, interests and identities that make up our school community.
Finally, a reminder that Monday 21st September is a holiday for school pupils, so P1-P7 children should not attend school. ELC will remain open as normal.
We hope all of our children and families have a lovely long weekend, with plenty of time to relax and recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week for another busy week in school!
