Seafield Snippets - 16th May 2025

We have had another busy week here at Seafield PS.  Our Parent Council met on Monday night and have some plans for upcoming events which they will share with you in due course.  The next Parent Council meeting will be in the new school year so look out for information about a date for this!  Our P5/6 pupils enjoyed a visit to Kelvingrove on Thursday and enjoyed touring the museum before taking part in an art workshop in the afternoon.  They had a great day out!  Our school football team took part in a festival this morning where they won 2 games, drew 1 game and lost their final game.  Everyone who took part demonstrated super sportsperson like behaviour and represented Seafield very well.

I am pleased to let you know that we have been awarded our Digital Schools Award!  This is an amazing achievement which states that it is in recognition of the school’s excellence in integrating digital technology into learning and teaching.  Staff and pupils who took part in the verification day were fantastic and the children spoke very confidently about how they use digital tools across learning.  Our written feedback from the verifier was extremely positive and we have been advised to submit an application for another award around how digital supports wellbeing in our school which we hope to do in the near future.  A huge thank you to all of the children and staff team, and particular thanks to Mrs Wallace who was our school digital lead over the last couple of years.

The other exciting piece of news also concerns Mrs Wallace!  I am delighted to let you know that she gave birth to a healthy baby boy last week and that the Wallace family are doing very well.  Baby Louie is home and is settling in well.  We hope to meet him soon and I’m sure you’ll hear about it if they are able to visit.

Finally, I am pleased to let you know that we have shared news about the winners and runners up of the competition organised by Seafield Gala Day committee to design the front cover of this year’s programme.  The winner was Preston!  Runners up are Jack; Rosa; Robyn and Olivia.  The children were given their prize envelopes today so please check bags if your child was a winner!

We are finalising our activities and plans for our upcoming health week (week beginning 2nd June) and will communicate about this with you in the near future.  Our school sports day is planned for Friday 30th May and usually begins at around 10.30am.  Let’s hope for a continuation of the good weather so that we can go ahead on the first try!  Our ELC have their sports on a different day, look out for dates from Miss Kitchin coming soon!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!  Lynne Egan.
